Tacoma shooting investigation
Residents told investigators they had heard dozens of shots in the commercial district, which is home to bars, breweries and restaurants. Police said there was no immediate sign of a suspect when officers arrived.
Detectives and crime-scene technicians spent Sunday examining the area, gathering evidence and checking possible CCTV footage. Witnesses and relatives of the victims were also being interviewed.
Authorities have not disclosed what led to the shooting, how many people may have been involved or where any suspect might be. No description of a suspected gunman has been released.
The deaths are being investigated as a homicide. Tacoma police have urged anyone with information, including residents or business owners who may have relevant camera footage, to contact the department.
The double killing brings Tacoma’s homicide total for the year to 18, according to police records. That is the same number recorded by the same point last year.
