An Israeli airstrike targeting a car in Gaza City has killed two Palestinians and injured others, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The strike hit the Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood in the south-west of the city. Images released by WAFA showed a burnt-out vehicle at the scene on Sunday.
The Israeli military said the attack was aimed at two members of Hamas’s military wing. It alleged that the pair belonged to a technical unit involved in producing and developing weapons.
According to the military, the two Hamas members had also been preparing attacks against Israelis and posed a threat. The claims have not been independently verified.
A ceasefire has been in place in the Gaza war since October 2025, but deadly incidents and attacks have continued. Israel has recently intensified its airstrikes, saying they are directed specifically at senior Hamas members.
