An uninsured driver has admitted causing the death of Laura Sone-Demetrious, who was struck while crossing the A10 Great Cambridge Road in Enfield during an evening dog walk.
Sedor Olmez, now 20, was 17 when the collision happened on 9 January 2024. He pleaded guilty at the Old Bailey on Friday to causing death by dangerous driving.
He also admitted a second charge relating to causing death while driving a BMW without insurance. Ms Sone-Demetrious, 28, and both of the dogs she was walking died in the crash.
Judge Lynn Tayton KC ordered a pre-sentence report after hearing that Olmez had no previous convictions and had been a teenager at the time of the offences.
Olmez was immediately disqualified from driving and granted continued unconditional bail. The judge warned him that he faces a prison sentence when he returns to court for sentencing, which is expected to take place in early November.
Roderick Mirzakhanian, 31, of Tottenham, is also charged with causing death by dangerous driving. He was not represented by a lawyer during Friday’s hearing and was not asked to enter a plea.
His plea hearing was adjourned until 2 October, and he was also granted continued unconditional bail.
Five members of Ms Sone-Demetrious’ family were in court for the hearing. The fatal collision took place on the busy north London dual carriageway as she used a pedestrian crossing on the Great Cambridge Road.
