Maternal health should remain a priority from the earliest weeks of pregnancy through to the postpartum period, a Seattle family medicine physician has said.
Dr Patricia Egwuatu, a family medicine physician at Kaiser Permanente, appeared on Good Day Seattle to discuss the importance of informed care and reliable guidance for mothers at every stage.
She highlighted how appropriate advice during pregnancy, childbirth and the weeks after delivery can help women recognise concerns, make informed decisions and seek support when needed.
The discussion also underlined the importance of continuing care after birth, when mothers’ physical and emotional health can require just as much attention as it did during pregnancy.
Dr Egwuatu said clear information and support can make a lasting difference to maternal wellbeing, helping women feel better prepared throughout their healthcare journey.
