Brandi Glanville is due to undergo facial surgery this week as part of treatment for ongoing health problems, with the procedure intended to remove material and organisms and clean the affected area.
A source said the former “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star will have the operation at Cedars-Sinai. The procedure is expected to be the first stage of a longer treatment plan.
Following surgery, Ms Glanville is expected to begin a 90-day course of antifungal treatment delivered through an intravenous drip. She will then undergo a further operation to remove her implants.
Dr Mark Farber, who has been involved in diagnosing her facial condition, has assembled a team of doctors to treat what has been described as an infection affecting her body. He will not perform the surgery himself; another doctor at Cedars-Sinai will carry it out.
Ms Glanville has previously spoken about symptoms including rashes and growths beneath her skin. She has also said the problems have affected her social life and led her to withdraw from friends over the past few years.
She has said she has struggled to respond to messages and calls from people close to her. Her reported diagnoses include highly resistant ESBL Klebsiella and Enterobacter with biofilm, Coccidioidomycosis, also known as Valley Fever, Demodex dermatitis and mononucleosis.
