About a dozen people confronted an attacker after a 50-year-old man was allegedly stabbed several times in the back of the head during a fight near Philadelphia City Hall.
Philadelphia Police Department officers were called to the junction of 15th Street and JFK Boulevard shortly after 9pm on Sunday, October 25, following reports of a person carrying a weapon.
Police said a verbal dispute escalated into a physical altercation before the man was attacked with an unidentified sharp object. Witnesses then joined the confrontation, punching and kicking the suspect until he fell to the ground.
A second man, aged 37, suffered a cut to his left arm during the struggle. Both injured men were taken to Jefferson University Hospital for treatment.
The suspect fled south along 15th Street before officers arrived. No arrest has been reported.
Police have not released the condition of either injured man, nor identified the people who intervened. They have also not issued a description of the suspect.
