Bethany Peaty reportedly reached out to her brother Adam on WhatsApp to share family baby news, despite the pair having been out of contact for almost three months amid the continuing Peaty-Ramsay rift.
The 32-year-old is understood to have wanted to tell the Olympic swimmer about the latest addition expected in the family. Their strained relationship has become another painful feature of the dispute surrounding Adam’s marriage to Holly Ramsay.
Bethany had previously remained one of the few links between the two sides. She was the only member of Adam’s immediate family reported to have attended his wedding to Holly at Bath Abbey in December, where she served as a bridesmaid.
However, reports in July said that Bethany and Holly were no longer speaking after a private conversation about media coverage of their pregnancies. Bethany, who is expecting her third child, had reportedly contacted Holly before considering a paid interview about the family’s baby news.
A source told the Daily Mail that Bethany had approached Holly “out of respect and consideration” and had asked whether she could answer questions. The conversation is said to have left Bethany upset, with Adam subsequently caught between his wife and his sister.
Holly and Adam announced in June that they were expecting their first child together, a baby girl due in December. Bethany’s child is expected shortly afterwards, adding to the hopes of relatives that the family might eventually repair its fractured relationships.
The wider feud intensified before Adam and Holly’s wedding, after his mother Caroline was excluded from wedding-related celebrations. Adam’s parents and brothers did not attend the ceremony, while Bethany stood beside her brother.
Adam has previously said that reports about his family life had been “almost entirely one-sided” and that there were “always two sides to every story”. He also said he and Holly could not discuss certain matters because of an ongoing police investigation into “serious matters” that pre-dated the recent dispute.
Despite the latest attempt to pass on family news, there has been no indication that the communication between Adam and Bethany marks a full reconciliation.
