Olympia Christou made a striking appearance at a Calvin Klein Denim event in Sydney on Thursday night, wearing a sheer lingerie-style top with low-rise jeans that recalled the designs which made her mother, Bettina Liano, a household name in Australian fashion.
The 29-year-old model and designer attended the event without a bra, pairing the see-through top with the pared-back denim and understated styling associated with the Calvin Klein brand.
Christou was also seen with her aunt, Gina Liano, as the announcement of the sixth season of The Real Housewives of Melbourne was celebrated. Gina Liano has been confirmed to return to the reality series, with production for the new season due to begin in 2027. Olympia is one of two daughters Bettina shares with former husband Roy Christou. She made her runway debut at Australian Fashion Week in 2018 and later moved into design, co-founding the upcycled streetwear label Hydra Opia with Karla Laidlaw in 2021. Following in Bettina Liano’s fashion footsteps
Her appearance carried an obvious family connection. Bettina Liano rose to prominence with her eponymous jeans label, launched with Roy Christou in 1989 after the pair had established themselves in Melbourne’s fashion industry.
At the height of its success, the brand operated eight stores across Australia and attracted high-profile fans including Jennifer Hawkins, Ruby Rose, Helena Christensen, Elle Macpherson and Liz Hurley.
The business later faced financial difficulties. It went into administration in 2011 before Bettina struck a licensing deal to regain control, but the Australian stores closed in February 2013 and the company entered administration again later that year.
Bettina subsequently launched a new label, BYBL, in 2015. At the time, she said: “They may have bought the name but they haven’t bought the woman,” adding that she still had the ability to design and that it remained her passion.
