Tiphaine Auzière, the 42-year-old daughter of Brigitte Macron, has gone public with a relationship with a man 20 years her junior — prompting comparisons with her mother’s romance with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Ms Auzière shared a video on Instagram showing herself with 22-year-old Antoine Lecomte during a trip to Amsterdam. The footage documented the couple’s journey from France to the Dutch capital and a 48-hour visit to the city.
Mr Lecomte is a kitesurfer, business student and entrepreneur who is understood to have met Ms Auzière at the French resort of Le Touquet, where he works as a watersports instructor.
The relationship has attracted attention because of its resemblance to Brigitte Macron’s marriage to Emmanuel Macron, who is 24 years younger than his wife. The couple met at a school in Amiens while she was teaching and he was a pupil, before marrying in 2007.
Ms Auzière, a trained lawyer and mother of two, is understood to have introduced Mr Lecomte to her children, Élise and Aurèle. French media reports have described the relationship as serious.
Brigitte Macron is said to be supportive of her daughter’s new partner. Ms Auzière reportedly told Gala that her mother’s priority was her daughter’s happiness and that she was pleased to see her thriving.
Mr Lecomte is also reported to run Mission Kiteboarding, a business connected to the design of kitesurfing equipment, while friends have said the couple share an interest in travel, sport and entrepreneurship.
