Chelsea Women have begun their 2026/27 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, in the club’s first season playing all their home league fixtures at the west London stadium.
The match kicked off at 12.35pm on Saturday, 5 September, with Sonia Bompastor’s side seeking to reclaim the title after Manchester City ended Chelsea’s long-standing dominance last season.
Chelsea arrive in domestic action after qualifying for the Women’s Champions League with a 6-2 aggregate victory over Real Sociedad. Aston Villa, meanwhile, are looking to improve after a difficult 2026 in which they collected seven WSL points.
The fixture is also being played against a strong historical record for the hosts. Chelsea have won all 12 of their previous Women’s Super League meetings with Villa, although the most recent encounter was a seven-goal thriller before Sjoeke Nüsken struck a late winner.
The game marks a significant change for Chelsea Women, who have previously staged most of their home matches at Kingsmeadow. Stamford Bridge is now their permanent WSL home, with further league fixtures against Birmingham City and Arsenal scheduled at the ground later this month.
