Cleveland Police has been given an additional £2 million to tackle serious crime following a series of deadly incidents in the force area.
The funding is intended to strengthen the force’s response to serious and organised crime and support efforts to prevent further violence across Teesside.
Cleveland Police covers Middlesbrough, Stockton-on-Tees, Hartlepool and Redcar and Cleveland. The extra money comes as the force deals with the impact of several fatal incidents and heightened concern over serious violence.
The investment will allow the force to increase its focus on investigations, enforcement and disruption activity targeting those involved in serious crime.
Police have urged anyone with information about criminal activity to report it, either directly to the force or anonymously through Crimestoppers.
