A 16-year-old boy has died after the scrambler he was riding was struck by another vehicle in County Clare, with the driver leaving the scene.
Bryan Lowe was found unresponsive beside the L3050 at Cottage Cross, near Cloonlara, shortly after 11pm on Friday, September 4. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The collision happened close to the Clare-Limerick border, around 7km from Limerick city, where Bryan attended secondary school.
Gardaí said a second vehicle was involved but failed to remain at the scene. Officers from Henry Street Garda station in Limerick are leading the investigation.
The road was preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators, while the coroner was notified and a post-mortem examination is due to be arranged.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was travelling through the Cloonlara area at the time to come forward. They have also asked motorists to check dashcam footage and local residents and businesses to review CCTV or doorbell-camera recordings.

Tributes have been paid to Bryan by relatives and friends, who described the teenager’s death as devastating.
