North Texas is set for a warm, dry weekend before rain chances begin to build next week and more active weather becomes possible ahead of Halloween.
Friday will bring high cloud with temperatures climbing to about 83F (28C) across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Morning readings ranged from the low to mid-50s in Bridgeport, McKinney and Sulphur Springs to the low 60s in Fort Worth.
An air quality alert is also in effect on Friday, as settled conditions and light winds remain in place across the region.
Warm and dry Dallas-Fort Worth weekend
Saturday is expected to remain rain-free, with a high of around 83F and morning temperatures in the upper 50s. Sunday will be slightly cooler at about 81F, with thicker cloud cover developing through the day.
The National Weather Service in Fort Worth said mostly dry conditions should continue through the weekend, with light south-easterly winds and increasing cloud cover into early next week.
Temperatures will ease into the upper 70s from Monday, although the weather is expected to remain largely settled for much of the area.
A small chance of showers returns on Tuesday, mainly west of the Interstate 35 corridor. The National Weather Service puts coverage at roughly 20 to 30 per cent in those western areas, with limited moisture expected elsewhere.
Rain chances are expected to increase by Thursday, when a broader change in the weather pattern could bring more active conditions to North Texas. Forecasters are also monitoring the possibility of a stronger cold front arriving close to Halloween.
