The Milwaukee Brewers will begin their World Series campaign against the Tampa Bay Rays at American Family Field on Friday, October 23, with first pitch scheduled for 7pm local time.
The National League champions, appearing in the Fall Classic for the first time since 1982, will host the opening two games in Milwaukee. The Brewers won a franchise-record 103 games during the regular season, while both teams are chasing the first World Series title in their history.
Brewers World Series Game 1: when and where to watch
American Family Field’s car parks will open at 3pm, with stadium gates due to open at 4pm. The game will be broadcast nationally on Fox and streamed on Fox One, while FOX6 will carry coverage in the Milwaukee area.
MLB has listed Milwaukee right-hander Jacob Misiorowski as the Brewers’ probable starter, with Nick Martinez expected to take the mound for Tampa Bay.
The full schedule begins with Game 2 in Milwaukee on Saturday, October 24, also at 7pm. The series then moves to Tampa Bay for Games 3 and 4 on Monday and Tuesday, October 26 and 27, with a fifth game scheduled for Wednesday, October 28 if required.
If the series reaches six or seven games, both will be played at American Family Field on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 respectively.
Watch parties and merchandise
Bars and restaurants across the Milwaukee area are preparing for crowds, with special viewing parties planned for games played away from home. Tickets for the Brewers’ own watch parties for road games sold out in less than 30 minutes, before appearing on resale websites for more than $100 and, in some cases, as much as $400.
Demand for World Series merchandise has also surged. The Brewers said their team shops at American Family Field closed on Thursday and Friday morning to replenish stock before reopening to ticketed supporters when the gates opened.
The two stadium stores are situated at the left-field gate and behind home plate. On game days they remain open from the opening of the gates until 30 minutes after the final out, while on non-game days they operate from 11am to 6pm Monday to Saturday and from 11am to 4pm on Sundays.
Milwaukee is expected to enjoy warm conditions for the opening game, with morning fog giving way to sunshine and temperatures rising into the upper 60s and lower 70s Fahrenheit. Saturday’s forecast is similarly pleasant, with temperatures around 70F.
