An Adelaide dog groomer is being investigated by the RSPCA after footage appeared to show a four-year-old Maltese-Shih Tzu being slapped during a grooming appointment.
The incident involving the dog, named Bob, is alleged to have taken place in Elizabeth on Wednesday. Video recorded by a concerned neighbour was later shared with Bob’s owner and circulated widely on social media.
The footage appears to show the groomer striking the dog across the head. The owner is understood to have confronted the groomer, who allegedly left without waiting to be paid.
The RSPCA has confirmed that its inspectors are investigating after receiving complaints about the incident.
The groomer’s business page on Facebook has since been deleted.
When contacted for comment, the groomer said there were two sides to the story and that he would seek legal advice before making any further statement.
No findings have been made and the allegations have not been tested in court.
