Erika Kirk has marked the first anniversary of her husband Charlie Kirk’s death by sharing a black-and-white photograph from their wedding, accompanied by the words: “…until Heaven.”
The image shows Mrs Kirk holding her late husband’s hands as they stood together on their wedding day. She posted it on Thursday, one year after the Turning Point USA founder was fatally shot at Utah Valley University in Utah.
Charlie Kirk, who was 31, was speaking at an event on September 10, 2025, when he was shot in the neck.
Mrs Kirk now serves as chief executive and board chair of Turning Point USA, the conservative youth organisation her husband founded. The couple had two young children.
In a New York Times opinion article published to coincide with the anniversary, Mrs Kirk wrote about the continuing impact of her loss and the advice she received from second lady Usha Vance in the aftermath of the shooting: to focus on getting through the next 15 minutes.
She said the couple’s wedding anniversary, birthdays and major holidays had brought renewed waves of grief, but that her faith had helped her accept that she would not always have answers to the questions surrounding her husband’s death.
