Alexis Mac Allister has no intention of leaving Liverpool, despite reported interest from Manchester City and Real Madrid, with his father Carlos insisting the Argentina international wants to remain at Anfield.
Mac Allister’s future has attracted renewed speculation during the summer, but his camp has now made clear that the midfielder is committed to continuing his career on Merseyside.
“Alexis is not thinking about leaving Liverpool. He wants to stay at the club,” Carlos Mac Allister told WinWin.
He added: “Liverpool have not started talks to renew the Alexis contract, but the player’s desire is to continue at the club.”
Mac Allister wants to remain at Liverpool
Manchester City have been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, reportedly viewing him as a possible alternative to Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez. Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Liverpool player.
However, Liverpool have continued to resist approaches and Mac Allister’s representatives are understood to have rebuffed interest from several clubs because he wants to stay at Anfield.
The midfielder is entering a new chapter under head coach Andoni Iraola and is believed to regard himself as an important part of the manager’s plans.
Mac Allister made his first start of the season in Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest, having been given an extended break after Argentina’s run to the 2026 World Cup final.
His existing Liverpool contract has two years remaining, meaning the club are not under immediate pressure to reach an agreement. Nevertheless, the lack of renewal talks leaves room for further speculation while interest from leading European clubs persists.
Liverpool signed Mac Allister from Brighton in 2023, and he has since established himself as one of the side’s most technically accomplished midfielders. His ability to dictate possession, operate under pressure and play in different midfield roles remains highly valued at Anfield.
While his form was inconsistent at times last season, his desire to stay provides Liverpool with a strong basis for future negotiations.
The club are expected to consider a new contract in due course, with improved terms potentially used to reflect Mac Allister’s importance and provide greater clarity over his long-term future.
