PC Tom Clough will be laid to rest with full police honours in Redcar today, following the funeral of his colleague PC Matthew Blades in Hartlepool.
The service for PC Clough, 38, is due to take place at 12.15pm at Kirkleatham Walled Gardens, where members of the public have been invited to pay their respects.
He and PC Blades, 37, were killed while on duty in a collision on the A66 at South Bank, near Middlesbrough, on August 22.
Cleveland Police said a Volkswagen Passat travelling the wrong way along the dual carriageway struck their marked armed response vehicle at about 3.39am. All seven people in the two vehicles died, including the five occupants of the Passat.
PC Blades’ funeral in Hartlepool on Wednesday was attended by hundreds of police officers and mourners. Standard bearers representing every UK police force took part in the service at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
PC Clough previously served with the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at Sellafield between 2013 and 2018, working as an authorised firearms officer before joining Cleveland Police.
The Civil Nuclear Constabulary described him as a highly respected officer, while Cleveland Police has said both men were brave officers who died protecting their communities.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. It said the Passat had been pursued shortly before it entered the A66 against the flow of traffic, with the pursuit abandoned before the fatal collision.
