Police in Fort Worth, Texas, are searching for a man accused of shooting a hotel security guard in a parking garage near the city’s Cultural District.
The incident happened at about 3am on Thursday, 3 September, at the Crescent Hotel on Camp Bowie Boulevard. Surveillance footage shows a man moving through the garage and checking whether car doors were unlocked, according to investigators.
Security guards approached the man and told him to leave the premises. Police said he initially walked towards the exit before drawing a handgun and firing several rounds at two guards.
One of the guards was struck in the arm and taken to hospital. He is expected to recover, while the hotel said it was “enormously proud” of the security team’s handling of the incident and that the injured employee was on the way to a full recovery.
The suspect fled on foot from the east entrance of the garage and ran eastbound. Fort Worth police have not announced an arrest.
Investigators described the suspect as a Hispanic man with long, floppy or “loopy” hair. He was wearing a dark hoodie and blue jeans at the time of the shooting.
Fort Worth police are asking anyone who recognises the man or has information about the shooting to contact detectives on 817-392-4025.
