Oxfordshire-based Jensen International has unveiled the Interceptor GTX, a rear-wheel-drive, track-only sports car with 960bhp and styling inspired by the marque’s famous grand tourer.
Revealed on Friday, September 4, the new model is being presented as an all-new design rather than a restomod or continuation of an earlier Jensen. The company describes it as “the ultimate analogue driving experience”.
The GTX is powered by a supercharged 6.8-litre V8 and sends its power to the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential transmission. Its aluminium body is hand-finished and mounted on a purpose-built aluminium chassis.
Inside, the car has been configured for circuit use, with competition seats, six-point harnesses, a roll cage and a digital motorsport display. Carbon-fibre aerodynamic components and adjustable suspension complete its track-focused specification.
Jensen International Automotive, which has previously built modernised versions of classic Interceptors, says the GTX is intended to demonstrate the direction of its new vehicle programme.
The company is also developing road-going versions based on the same design. A performance-focused Interceptor GTR and a more luxurious GT are planned, although the GTX itself is not intended for use on public roads.
