Jessica Mauboy has disclosed that it cost $50,000 to secure Snoop Dogg for her 2010 single Get ’Em Girls.
The Australian singer revealed the figure during an appearance on The Mitch Churi Chat Show, after being asked how much she had paid to feature the American rapper on the track.
“50K. That’s a bargain,” Mauboy replied, adding that the sum had secured more than a guest verse.
She said Snoop Dogg also contributed to the music video, attended studio sessions and appeared in person for the project. Mauboy recalled that he arrived with his entourage and a Winnebago, where fried chicken was prepared for people involved in the video.
Get ’Em Girls, released as the lead single from Mauboy’s second studio album, was issued in September 2010. The collaboration came during a period when the singer was working with a number of prominent US artists.
Reflecting on the song, Mauboy said she respected Snoop Dogg’s credibility and experience, but felt Australia was not ready for the track when it was released.
