Jodie Sweetin has recalled surviving a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles while travelling in a limousine with friends and her late Full House co-star Bob Saget.
The incident happened outside Ed Debevic’s on La Cienega Boulevard in the early 1990s, shortly before the group was due to attend a Janet Jackson concert.
Sweetin was sitting in the limousine with Candace Cameron Bure’s sister and another young person when gunfire erupted. “S*** was wild,” she said.
During the chaos, the group fled the vehicle and ran back into the restaurant for safety. Saget and the other adults were still inside at the time.
Sweetin recently described the incident during a Full House reunion panel at 90s Con, recalling that she had ducked down to tie her shoes just as gunfire shattered one of the limousine’s windows.
Saget had secured tickets for the group to see Jackson at The Forum. Sweetin said the outing was among the first occasions on which her mother had allowed her to attend an event without parental supervision.
She also remembered Saget as a keen music fan who regularly bonded with the cast over concerts and new albums. Although she joked that the shooting probably did little to reassure her mother, Sweetin said her mother trusted Saget and that he always looked after her.
