Liverpool’s hopes of signing Michael Olise could depend on whether the Bayern Munich winger agrees a new contract containing a substantial release clause.
Olise is understood to be among the players being considered as a potential long-term successor to Mohamed Salah on Liverpool’s right flank. However, any attempt to prise the France international away from Bayern could involve a fee of up to €250 million.
German journalist Christian Falk, writing in his latest CF Bayern Insider column, says Bayern are keen to secure Olise’s future and may be prepared to include a buyout clause in improved terms.

“Bayern Munich is now pushing hard to get Michael Olise on fresh terms, as there’s simply no player like the right winger available on the market,” Falk said.
Olise’s current agreement does not contain a release clause, but Falk believes Bayern may view one as a useful way of persuading the 24-year-old to commit while protecting the club financially should he eventually leave.
“Jamal Musiala has a release clause in his contract. So this could be an idea for Michael Olise if he signs a new contract,” Falk said. “However, I can say that any release clause that may be attached to the winger’s contract will be very, very high.”
Falk added that Bayern would be comfortable with the arrangement if the figure was set at between €150 million and €250 million, allowing the Bundesliga champions to invest heavily in a replacement should another club trigger it.
“If any club chooses to activate this, Bayern will have a lot of money on the table to put towards a successor,” he said.
The prospect of a new contract would also give Bayern an opportunity to improve Olise’s salary, which Falk says currently falls short of the packages enjoyed by Harry Kane and Musiala.
A €200 million or €250 million clause would almost certainly be beyond Liverpool’s reach, while a €150 million valuation would still represent a major outlay. The Reds have nevertheless been linked with Olise by TEAMtalk and other outlets, with the winger viewed as a natural fit for the role previously occupied by Salah.
Should Olise reject Bayern’s proposed terms, Liverpool could instead have an opportunity to negotiate a transfer fee without the protection of a release clause. For now, however, the immediate focus is on whether Bayern can convince one of Europe’s most coveted right-sided attackers to stay in Munich.
