A Milwaukee man has been sentenced to nine years in prison after leading police on a high-speed chase just months after being released from custody for an earlier pursuit.
Kyle Taylor, 39, was also ordered to serve eight years of extended supervision following the December 2025 Milwaukee police chase. His driving privileges were revoked for six months.
Milwaukee police chase ended in crash
Taylor pleaded guilty in August to fleeing police and second-degree recklessly endangering safety. He entered a no-contest plea to a felony gun possession charge, while a child neglect charge was dismissed.
Milwaukee County Judge Owen Piotrowski imposed the sentence after prosecutors outlined the circumstances of the chase, which began near 12th Street and West Scott Street.
Officers on patrol had reportedly seen people described in court filings as known narcotics users beside a white Lincoln SUV. The vehicle had no front number plate or bumper.
When police attempted to stop it, prosecutors said Taylor accelerated to about 50mph in a 25mph zone. The pursuit continued through Milwaukee’s south side, with speeds later exceeding 70mph.
The criminal complaint alleged that Taylor ran several stop signs and red lights and, at times, drove on the wrong side of the road. The chase ended when the Lincoln struck a snow bank and tree branches.
Police arrested Taylor after the crash. Two other people were inside the SUV, including a three-year-old child, and officers found a gun in the vehicle, according to the complaint.
Court records show Taylor had previously been convicted of fleeing police following an incident in January 2024. He received a 15-month prison sentence, with credit for time already served, and was released on extended supervision in June 2025.
