A new video from a Washington Wizards game appears to show fans calling for Britt McHenry to be removed from the arena shortly before a drinks were thrown during a confrontation in the stands.
McHenry, a former ESPN reporter and current US State Department press adviser, is seen speaking with a male guest and an usher as members of the crowd shout at her.
Fans can be heard calling her “crazy” and “racist”, while others shout “f*** her” and demand: “They gotta get her outta here.”
Some spectators appear to high-five as McHenry is apparently asked to leave her seat. The crowd then begins chanting: “Get her out!”
As McHenry stands to leave, a person seated behind her throws a drink in her direction. She bends down, picks up a cup and throws it back towards the spectators, prompting a strong reaction from people nearby.
The incident took place during the Wizards’ home opener against the Milwaukee Bucks. McHenry was later escorted from the building, although people close to her insist she was not ejected.
Those sources said she left voluntarily to go to a bar, while her male guest remained at the game. McHenry was also seen blowing kisses and waving to the crowd before arguing with a security guard who was directing her out.
The confrontation reportedly followed inappropriate comments made by people sitting behind McHenry and her guest about Winnie Harlow, who is engaged to Bucks player Kyle Kuzma, according to sources close to McHenry.
Kuzma previously played for Washington and his return to the city formed the backdrop to the exchange. The Wizards won the game 128-116.
