Geisha Bar in Perth’s Northbridge district has been forced to close temporarily after structural damage was found in part of the nightclub’s roof.
The venue said a structural engineer had been appointed to assess the problem and that it would remain shut until the area had been made safe. No reopening date has been announced.
In a statement shared on social media, Geisha Bar said the closure was “disappointing” but insisted that “the safety of our patrons, performers, and staff is our highest priority”.
The club, which has operated in Northbridge since 1999, had been due to host London-based house DJ and producer Joss Dean on Friday, 11 September.
Organisers have since moved the event to Verdict, upstairs at The Court on Beaufort Street in Perth. The show is scheduled to run from 9pm until 2am.
Regulars reacted with dismay to the announcement, with one describing Geisha as their favourite place to dance and hoping the repairs would be completed by the end of the month.
Geisha Bar said it would provide further updates as more information became available.
