The body of a newborn boy has been found in a rubbish bin in Auburn, south-west Sydney, prompting an urgent police appeal to locate his mother.
Emergency services were called to Harrow Road at about 11.20am on Monday, 31 August, after reports that a baby had been discovered in a bin.
Officers from the Auburn Police Area Command attended and confirmed the infant was dead. A crime scene has been established while detectives investigate the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
New South Wales Police said they held serious concerns for the welfare of the baby’s mother and urged her to attend her nearest hospital to receive urgent medical care.
