Merseyside Police have released a list of 40 potential names in a bid to identify a woman whose body was found inside a bin bag in Stanley Park, Liverpool.
The discovery prompted a dedicated inquiry by the force, with detectives reviewing missing person records and CCTV footage to establish whether any of the names correspond to the victim.
Officers have urged anyone who recognises any of the names or who has information that could assist the investigation to come forward. Police emphasise that the inquiry is ongoing and that identifying the woman remains the primary objective at this stage.
The investigation is being led by a dedicated major investigations team, with inquiries spanning potential matches from missing-person files and cross-checks with other forces where appropriate.
Stanley Park, a well-known green space in Liverpool, remains the focal point of the investigation as detectives pursue several lines of enquiry. Police say they cannot at present confirm the identity of the woman.
Crimestoppers has been asked to assist the public in providing information that could help establish who the victim is and how she came to be found in the bin bag.
The inquiry continues as detectives work to verify potential identities from the list and gather additional evidence to build a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
