The Pussycat Dolls launched their PCD Forever reunion tour in Oslo on Thursday, as the trio prepared to bring their comeback to the UK later this month amid a fresh discount on ticket prices.
Nicole Scherzinger, Kimberly Wyatt and Ashley Roberts performed a string of the group’s best-known hits at Oslo Spektrum, appearing in embellished nude bodystockings, lace-up boots and sheer pink costumes.
Scherzinger also showed off her flexibility during the performance, executing a standing side split as the trio danced across the stage.
The show came after the group’s North American tour was cut back sharply following weak ticket sales. The Pussycat Dolls cancelled 32 dates in the United States and Canada in May, retaining only an appearance at the OUTLOUD Music Festival in Los Angeles. In a statement at the time, the group said it had made the “difficult and heartbreaking decision” after “taking an honest look” at the North American run.
Now, fans attending the UK dates can buy four tickets for £150, including fees, under a limited-time group offer. The deal brings the cost to £37.50 per person and has also been promoted by the first direct bank arena in Leeds. The UK leg is due to begin at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on September 29, followed by Nottingham the next night. Further shows are scheduled for Leeds, Liverpool, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester before the tour concludes at London’s O2 Arena on October 13.
The European run follows the planned opening of the tour in North America, which had originally been due to begin in California on June 5. Ticket prices for some of the cancelled dates had reportedly been reduced to $30 before the shows were abandoned.
Wyatt has suggested that the reunion could be the trio’s final tour together. Speaking ahead of the shows, she said performing with the knowledge that it might be the last time made the experience particularly meaningful.
“I think going on stage knowing it could be your last is something really special because you don’t miss any of those moments,” she said.
Wyatt added that the group were approaching the tour as “grown women” and were focused less on proving themselves than on celebrating what they had achieved together.
The comeback has also been overshadowed by the absence of former members Carmit Bachar, Jessica Sutta and Melody Thornton. Bachar and Sutta have said they were not asked to take part in the reunion, while Sutta criticised the decision to proceed without them.
