London City Lionesses will open their 2026-27 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign against Manchester United on Friday evening, with the fixture at Hayes Lane in Bromley scheduled for a 7pm kick-off.
The match at the CopperJax Community Stadium has sold out, with more than 5,400 tickets purchased for what London City say will be the biggest home attendance in the club’s history.
It is the first competitive match of the new WSL season for both sides and the opening home fixture of London City’s second campaign in the top flight.
London City finished sixth in their inaugural WSL season and have strengthened significantly during the summer. Manager Eder Maestre’s new-look squad includes Mary Earps, Alexia Putellas, Mapi León, Kadidiatou Diani and Daniëlle van de Donk.
Manchester United begin a new era under head coach Eva Olid, who succeeded Marc Skinner during the summer. United finished fourth last season and will be led by captain Maya Le Tissier, with England internationals Ella Toone and Jess Park among the visitors’ key players.
The teams last met in February, when Manchester United recovered from conceding an early goal to win 2-1. London City took the lead through Nikita Parris before Jess Park equalised and Millie Turner scored the winner.
Team news for the London City Lionesses versus Manchester United fixture is due to be announced at 6pm, an hour before kick-off. The match will be shown live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.
