Below Deck Mediterranean star Nathan Gallagher has been convicted in his absence of domestic violence offences in Australia after failing to appear at court, with a warrant now issued for his arrest.
Gallagher, 27, was due before Burwood Local Court in Sydney on Tuesday, but prosecutors told Judge Janine Lacy that he could not be located and was believed to be overseas. Police alleged that Gallagher attacked a woman at a unit complex in Melrose Park, in Sydney’s north-west, on Boxing Day last year. He was arrested the following morning by officers from Ryde Police Area Command and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentionally choking a person without consent and common assault. A police fact sheet said Gallagher had been drinking wine with his partner before an argument escalated. It alleged that he covered her mouth and nose, restricting her breathing, before holding her on the ground and placing his hands around her neck.
The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was also allegedly slapped and suffered injuries including a cut inside her mouth and bruising. Gallagher was taken to Gladesville Police Station and spent a night in custody before being granted conditional bail.

Gallagher is now also wanted in Ireland over a separate alleged assault. A bench warrant was reportedly issued after he failed to attend court over claims that he attacked a man in Dungloe, County Donegal, in August 2022. He later appeared as a deckhand on the ninth season of the Bravo reality series, before being promoted to bosun. His relationship with fellow cast member Gael Cameron, with whom he has a child, featured in the programme.
Cameron attended Burwood Local Court to give evidence, accompanied by friends. Separate court proceedings have named her as the protected person in an apprehended violence application involving Gallagher. Gallagher has previously said he wanted to present his own account of the relationship. In a statement to Rolling Stone, he said: “I’m not claiming I was perfect. I wasn’t. I made mistakes and I will take responsibility for my own actions.”
He added that he would not accept being portrayed solely through one person’s account, saying he had evidence that could provide further context. The charges and the allegations relating to the Australian incident were reported before the court’s decision to convict him in his absence.
