Rose Tattoo frontman Gary “Angry” Anderson has suffered a cardiac arrest and is receiving treatment in hospital, the Australian rock band has announced.
Anderson, 79, was admitted after a medical emergency that had already forced Rose Tattoo to abandon the remaining dates of their European tour earlier this month.
In a statement shared on social media, the band said Anderson was “currently in hospital receiving treatment and the care he needs”. No further details about his condition have been released.
Rose Tattoo said the singer’s family was focused on his treatment and recovery, while thanking fans for the messages of support sent since news of his hospitalisation emerged.
“We kindly ask that you please respect the privacy of Angry and his family,” the band said. “We appreciate everyone’s understanding and ask that you continue to keep Angry and his family in your thoughts and prayers during the days ahead.”
The group cancelled all remaining shows on its 2026 European tour after announcing on 10 August that Anderson was in hospital with a medical issue. The tour had been billed as “One Last Ride” and was expected to mark the veteran band’s final year of touring after more than five decades on the road.
According to Rolling Stone Australia, nine European performances had been left on the schedule when the tour was cancelled. Rose Tattoo had been due to return to Australia in September for farewell shows in Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane.
The band is also listed to appear on the Red Hot Summer Tour with Suzi Quatro in November, although no update has been given on those plans.
