Sunderland are set to complete a season-long loan deal for Tottenham defender Kevin Danso, with the agreement including an option for the move to become permanent.
The Black Cats initially saw their proposal rejected, but negotiations have since resumed and the two clubs have reached an agreement for the Austria international to move to the Stadium of Light.
Danso is expected to undergo a medical before completing the switch, with Sunderland seeking to strengthen their defence ahead of the transfer deadline.
Tottenham’s imminent signing of Chelsea centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo has paved the way for the deal. Spurs had been reluctant to release Danso without first securing a replacement, but Adarabioyo’s arrival is understood to have removed that obstacle.
Danso joined Tottenham from Lens in January 2025, initially on loan before the move was made permanent later that year for a reported £20.9 million. Tottenham’s official announcement described him as a commanding centre-back who had made 128 appearances for Lens.
