Two people have been killed and 11 injured after a truck drove through a field where a soccer game was taking place in Kansas on Saturday morning local time.
A six-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man died at the scene, Wichita Police said. The other 11 people suffered traumatic injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
The truck driver has been taken into police custody. Police have not released further details about the driver or indicated what their intent may have been.
Two minors were also in the truck when it entered the soccer field. First responders have since cleared the area of any further public threat.
Mayor Lily Wu urged people to avoid the area while the investigation continued.
“My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, especially the children and families involved,” she said.
