The daughter of a Montgomery County sheriff’s deputy has died after a rollover crash in Texas, while two other children trapped in the vehicle were rescued and taken to hospital.
Montgomery County Sheriff Wesley Doolittle said on Saturday evening that the department was “heartbroken” by the loss. The victim and her father have not been publicly identified.
First responders freed the two children from the wreckage before they were taken for medical treatment. Sheriff Doolittle said they had since been reunited with their family and were expected to recover.
No further details about the circumstances of the crash have been released, and it was not immediately clear where in Montgomery County it happened.
Doolittle asked the public to respect the family’s privacy as they grieve, saying the law enforcement community was standing together with those affected by the tragedy.
