Three people accused of killing a 16-year-old boy in Tacoma have appeared in court, facing murder and assault charges in connection with the fatal shooting.
Josiah Midgyett was found with life-threatening gunshot wounds after police were called to reports of shots fired in the 1100 block of Commerce Street shortly after 2.20am on Sunday, October 18. He died at the scene despite efforts by officers and firefighters to save him.
The suspects appeared before a judge on Wednesday. Court records identify them as two men who are brothers and a woman who is married to one of them, according to The News Tribune.
Tacoma Police said one of the men was arrested in east Tacoma on Monday evening, while the second man and the woman were detained in Yelm, about 40 miles south of the city.
All three were booked into Pierce County Jail on first-degree murder allegations. The court proceedings also included assault charges linked to the case.
Police have not disclosed what led to the shooting. The investigation remains active, and authorities have asked anyone with information to contact emergency services.
The allegations have not been tested in court. The defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
