Cory Wharton and Taylor Selfridge have split after nine years together, with the MTV stars confirming the end of their relationship on Thursday.
Selfridge, 32, announced the separation on her Instagram Story, saying she had left because she was “sick of not getting basic respect” from Wharton, 35, who is the father of her two children.
“I deserve more than that and I’ll get that,” she added. “End of story.”
The couple first met while filming MTV’s Ex on the Beach in 2017 and made their relationship public in 2019. They share two daughters, Mila, six, and Maya, four.
Wharton is also the father of nine-year-old Ryder, whom he shares with his former partner Cheyenne Floyd. Wharton and Selfridge later appeared on Teen Mom alongside Floyd, 33.
Wharton addressed the break-up in his own Instagram post, describing it as “a new chapter” and confirming that he and Selfridge had decided to “go our separate ways”. He apologised for times when he “could’ve been better” and for the ways he had let her down.
He said his priority would be his three daughters, writing: “These three girls are my entire world” and promising that “regardless of what changes in life, Dad isn’t going anywhere.”
Wharton added that he would focus on “learning from my mistakes, growing, healing, and becoming the best version of myself I can be”, while thanking his family and friends for their support.
The separation follows a flirty relationship between Wharton and his The Challenge co-star Izzy Fairthorne during the current season of the MTV competition series. Wharton admitted he was attracted to Fairthorne, 27, while discussing problems in his relationship with Selfridge.
