More than 112,000 bottles of Amazon-brand Extra Strength Acetaminophen have been recalled in the United States after customers reported finding discoloured caplets in the bottles.
The voluntary recall was initiated by Aurobindo Pharma USA on September 18 and covers 112,932 bottles of 500mg acetaminophen sold through Amazon. The US Food and Drug Administration published details of the recall on October 2.
The medicine, commonly used to relieve pain and reduce fever, was manufactured by Aurobindo Pharma USA and distributed by Amazon.com Services LLC nationwide.

The affected products were sold in bottles containing 200, 500 or 1,000 caplets. The FDA said the recall followed consumer complaints about tablet discolouration.
The 200-count bottles are from lot ACD125040A and have an expiry date of September 30, 2027.
For the 500-count bottles, the affected lots are ACD124036A and ACD124030A, both expiring on September 30, 2027; ACD124042A, expiring on October 31, 2027; ACD124048B, expiring on November 30, 2027; and ACD125010A, expiring on February 29, 2028.
The recall also includes 1,000-count bottles from lot ACD124048A, with an expiry date of November 30, 2027.
The FDA has not yet assigned a classification indicating the level of health risk associated with the recall.
Consumers who have one of the affected products should check the bottle’s lot number and expiry date, stop using it and contact a pharmacist or healthcare professional for advice.
