Richarlison has been left out of Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League squad for the first half of the 2026-27 season after repeatedly telling manager Roberto De Zerbi that he wanted to leave the club.
The decision follows the collapse of a proposed return to Everton before Tuesday’s transfer deadline. The 29-year-old forward was informed before the deadline that he was not part of Tottenham’s plans, according to BBC Sport.
Richarlison started Spurs’ opening league match of the season but was omitted from the squad for the 2-0 defeat by Newcastle United on Saturday.
De Zerbi addressed the situation after that loss, making clear that the Brazil international’s future depended on a deal being reached that worked financially for Tottenham.
“Richarlison, I don’t know. He said too many times he wants to leave,” the Italian said.
Richarlison left out as Tottenham consider late transfer
The forward’s exclusion from the Premier League list leaves him unable to play in top-flight matches for Tottenham during the first part of the campaign, although he could still move to a club in a country where the transfer window remains open.
Turkish side Trabzonspor are understood to be pursuing Richarlison, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that the player has agreed personal terms on a contract worth three times his current Tottenham wages.
Tottenham have already rejected bids of £15 million and £20 million from the Turkish club, but a further offer is expected before the Turkish window closes on Friday, September 4. Saudi Arabian clubs also remain able to make signings.
Richarlison joined Spurs from Everton in 2022 and is entering the final year of his contract. He was Tottenham’s leading Premier League scorer last season, but his repeated requests to depart have now left his future away from north London.
