Sally Field and Matthew Rhys were among the leading Emmy winners, taking the top acting prizes in the limited or anthology series and film categories.
Field won Outstanding Lead Actress for Remarkably Bright Creatures, beating Claire Danes for The Beast in Me, Carey Mulligan for Beef, Sarah Pidgeon for Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette and Sarah Snook for All Her Fault.
Rhys claimed Outstanding Lead Actor for The Beast in Me. His fellow nominees were Riz Ahmed for Bait, Jason Bateman for Black Rabbit, Charlie Hunnam for Monster: The Ed Gein Story and Oscar Isaac for Beef.
The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Programme, seeing off Dancing With the Stars, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Survivor and Top Chef. Its host, Alan Cumming, was also nominated for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Programme alongside RuPaul Charles, Kristen Kish, Ariana Madix and Jeff Probst.
The Late Show With Stephen Colbert took Outstanding Variety Series, ahead of The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Last Week Tonight With John Oliver and Saturday Night Live.
In the writing categories, Vince Gilligan won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Pluribus, while Katie Dippold took the comedy prize for Widow’s Bay.
Slow Horses won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, with Saul Metzstein recognised for the episode “Scars”. Hiro Murai won the comedy directing award for Widow’s Bay.
The nominees for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series included Michael J. Fox and Brett Goldstein for Shrinking, Hamish Linklater for Widow’s Bay, Christopher McDonald for Hacks, Rob Reiner for The Bear and Connor Storrie for Saturday Night Live.
Other listed nominees included Jason Bateman, David Harbour and Richard Jenkins for DTF St. Louis in the supporting actor category, while Summer House received a nomination for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Programme.
