Hilary Swank has revealed how she kept her pregnancy secret for months before announcing that she is expecting her third child with husband Philip Schneider.
The 52-year-old actress said her privacy was respected by people in the small town where she grew up, while she was also able to keep the news from colleagues during filming.
Speaking on the Question Everything podcast, Swank said: “I live in a very small town. It’s a town I grew up in, and everyone there has been so just respectful of my privacy, and it hasn’t leaked.”
She added: “Clearly, I don’t stay at home all the time. I was working up until about 17 weeks pregnant, so no one really knew on set either.”
Swank announced her pregnancy in a video shared on Instagram, revealing that she is due to give birth in December.
Explaining why she chose to make the news public, she said: “I’m a pretty private person, and there was no reason to really, I don’t know, say anything. And then we passed this wonderful diaper bill, and I wanted to show up here, and so I was like, ‘Well, hello everybody and meet the baby in my belly.’”
The actress has also spoken about criticism of women having babies in their 40s and 50s during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show.
Swank previously gave birth to twins in 2023. She is due to return to television when the fourth and final season of Yellowjackets premieres in November.
