Philips Hue has unveiled a new range of architecturally focused smart lighting at IFA in Berlin, led by the Liane 360-degree Rope Light, which is designed to function as both a room feature and a source of illumination.
The flexible light uses Hue’s OmniGlow technology to create a continuous tube of diffuse light, emitting in every direction without visible points of glare. It can be shaped into curves and other organic forms, attached to walls or ceilings with clear clips, or draped around furniture and architectural details.
Unlike most architectural lighting, which typically uses fixed white light, the Liane can produce a wide range of colours and brightness levels. Its design allows the light itself to become part of a room’s décor rather than remaining hidden behind a fitting or fixture.
The Liane is available in three-metre and five-metre versions. Prices start at $399.99 for the shorter model and rise to $549.99 for five metres, placing it firmly at the premium end of the smart lighting market.
Philips Hue has also expanded its Signe range with three slim, black-housed models: the Signe pendant, Signe pendulum and Signe pole. The lights can be suspended from the ceiling, positioned against a wall or incorporated into an interior in other ways, with prices starting at $319.99 from October.
The company also presented new additions to its Festavia collection for indoor and outdoor use, including curtain, net and icicle lights.
