Jonathan Groff is returning to Broadway in a solo production of The Amish Project, with performances due to begin in February 2027.
The 41-year-old Tony Award winner will star in the play by Jessica Dickey, directed by Sarna Lapine. The production will open at Broadway’s Broadhurst Theatre on February 10.
The Amish Project is inspired by the 2006 shooting at an Amish schoolhouse in Pennsylvania. Through a single performer, it explores the grief of the close-knit community and its response of compassion and forgiveness after the tragedy.
The play is described as an intimate portrait of a community confronting unimaginable loss and considering the meaning of grace and forgiveness. The events depicted took place just minutes from where Groff grew up.
Fans can access a 24-hour pre-sale from 10am ET on November 9, 2026, while public ticket sales will begin at the same time on November 10.
