The Minnesota State Fair entered its fifth day on Monday, August 31, with Seniors Day offering discounted admission alongside a quieter morning for visitors with sensory sensitivities.
Guests aged 65 and over can enter for $15, compared with the regular fair-time senior admission price of $18. The promotion also includes discounts on selected food and merchandise, while rides and games offer all-day specials.
The 2026 Great Minnesota Get-Together is being held in Falcon Heights and remains open from 7am to 11pm. Monday’s programme also includes mental health awareness activities at Dan Patch Park.
A sensory-friendly session is being held at Kidway from 9am to 11am and at the Mighty Midway from 10am until noon. During those periods, organisers are reducing light levels, sound and non-safety-related announcements, although some attractions may still produce noise or flashing lights.
Music at the Minnesota State Fair
The evening entertainment will move to the Grandstand, where Tommy James & The Shondells are due to perform at 7pm, alongside Herman’s Hermits starring Peter Noone.
Tommy James is expected to perform songs including “Mony Mony”, “Crimson & Clover” and “I Think We’re Alone Now”. Peter Noone’s group is known for 1960s hits such as “I’m Into Something Good” and “Mrs Brown, You’ve Got a Lovely Daughter”.
The fair, one of the largest annual events in Minnesota, runs through Monday, September 7. FOX 9 is providing live coverage from the grounds, with its broadcast position located next to the Giant Slide.
