A man accused of fleeing a traffic stop in Tampa was tracked down by a police dog after allegedly hiding in a backyard shed, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the vehicle was later found abandoned on North 48th Street following the pursuit on Thursday, September 3. A K9 unit searched the surrounding neighbourhood and located 29-year-old Vaquavien Washington inside a shed.
Washington was arrested at the scene and faces felony charges, including fleeing to elude at high speed and burglary of an unoccupied structure.
The sheriff’s office has not said what prompted the original traffic stop or confirmed whether anyone else was in the vehicle. It is also unclear how long Washington had been in the shed before he was found.
The allegations have not been tested in court.
