Thousands of people gathered at Eastridge Center in San Jose for Mallorama, an after-hours rave that turned the shopping centre’s central court into a late-night dance venue.
The one-night event ran from Saturday, September 5, into the early hours of Sunday, September 6, with performances from DJs including TroyBoi, WINK, nikko and rad cat.
Organised by promoters including Brownies & Lemonade, Something New Club, San Jose Foos and 15Utah, the 21-and-over event featured a full stage, lighting and sound system inside the East San Jose mall.
Most of Eastridge Center closed for the occasion, while selected food outlets remained open for attendees. Alcohol was also available to guests with valid identification.
The event was billed as a four-hour DJ experience in the shopping centre’s centre court, with organisers promising a festival-style production in an unusual indoor setting.
Eastridge Center marketing and local leasing coordinator Eric Perez said before the event that security arrangements were being coordinated with private security, medical teams and the San Jose Police Department.
