Metro Detroit writer and content creator Stephanie Shar has published her debut romance novel, The Love Lottery, a story about a struggling millennial whose life is upended by a winning lottery ticket.
The novel follows Charlotte Kessler as she tries to recover from financial pressures and personal setbacks. Her fortunes appear to change when she discovers a ticket worth a substantial prize.
But the windfall quickly becomes complicated. Another person claims ownership of the ticket, leaving the dispute to be settled in court while Charlotte is drawn into an increasingly difficult relationship with her rival.
The Love Lottery was released on August 1, 2026, and is the first book in Shar’s planned Little Lake Love Stories series.
Shar has spent years working as a magazine writer and building an audience as a content creator in Metro Detroit. She has also written about the challenges of bringing her first novel to readers, including the uncertainty that can follow an independent book launch.
The book combines romance with themes of financial insecurity, second chances and the unpredictable consequences of sudden good fortune.
