The White House has removed a racist Tetris clone called “Build the Wall” from its newly launched arcade games website, just days after the title was made available online.
The game required players to stack blocks of different sizes to prevent what it described as a “zombie border siege”. Its removal was first noted after the website attracted attention for a series of games reflecting President Donald Trump’s political agenda.
The reason for taking down Build the Wall has not been disclosed. The Tetris Company had said it was reviewing the matter, amid questions over the unauthorised use of the long-running puzzle game’s format and branding.
“For more than 40 years, Tetris has brought people together across generations and cultures through play and joy,” Kerri Brusca, a spokeswoman for the Tetris Company, said last week. “The objective of the game has always been to stack with purpose to clear as many lines as possible. We are currently reviewing the matter.”
Other games remain on the White House website, including “Flappy Bill”, a version of Flappy Bird, “Supply Line”, which resembles Tapper, “Trump Savings Tycoon” and “Rio Run”.
