The Milwaukee Brewers prepared for Game 2 of the World Series with manager Pat Murphy, pitcher Robert Gasser and infielders David Hamilton and Cooper Pratt reflecting on the club’s return to baseball’s biggest stage.
Milwaukee went into Saturday night’s meeting with the Tampa Bay Rays holding a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series after a 3-2 victory in the opener at American Family Field. Game 2 was scheduled for October 24, with the Brewers again enjoying home advantage.
Murphy spoke to reporters after the opening win, while Hamilton and Pratt discussed the challenge facing Milwaukee as it sought to extend its advantage before the series moved to Tampa Bay for Games 3 and 4.
Robert Gasser in line for Game 3
Gasser was also interviewed ahead of the second game after being identified as the probable starter for Game 3. The Brewers are scheduled to face the Rays in Tampa Bay on October 26.
The left-hander is part of Milwaukee’s 26-man World Series squad, which includes 13 pitchers and 13 position players. Hamilton and Pratt are among the six infielders selected for the series.
The Brewers’ appearance is their first in the World Series since 1982 and only the second in franchise history. Milwaukee reached the Fall Classic by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series.
Major League Baseball said Milwaukee won a franchise-record 103 games during the regular season, securing home-field advantage throughout the post-season. The Brewers host Games 1 and 2, while Games 3 and 4 take place in Tampa Bay, with a fifth game there if required.
Game 2 was due to begin at 7pm local time in Milwaukee, with the World Series being shown on FOX and streamed on FOX ONE.
