The White House has removed a game called “Build the Wall” from its website after The Tetris Company complained that it closely resembled the classic block-stacking game.
The title was among a number of arcade-style games recently published on the Trump administration’s website. Players were tasked with fitting together blocks of different shapes and sizes to construct a wall against what the game described as a “zombie border siege”.
The game attracted criticism over its immigration-themed premise, with opponents condemning it as racist. The Tetris Company said it had no involvement in the project and warned that it took alleged copyright infringement seriously.
“The Tetris Company was not involved in the creation of ‘Build the Wall’,” the company said in a statement posted on Instagram. “We take copyright infringement very seriously.”
The game’s page now returns a 404 error, indicating that it has been removed from the White House website. The Trump administration has not publicly explained the decision.
Another game, “Rio Run”, remains available on the site. It features a white male character whose stated objective is to deport as many immigrant characters as possible.
